WeLead Academy is an 8-week (+ orientation & graduation) professional development program launching this September, tailored to support aspiring and existing entrepreneurs and rising executives (intrapreneurs) committed to personal, professional, and community transformation through leadership and civic engagement in our community, especially those from marginalized backgrounds.


WeLead Academy is a program of the West Hollywood Small Business Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, and was developed in partnership led by Dubb Value Creation. This program was made possible by a generous grant from the City of West Hollywood.

How Do We Work

The Academy aspires to accomplish two distinct goals in one program (small business entrepreneurship - new & existing - and executive advancement), with civic engagement and mentorship built in. WeLead Academy is designed for flexibility and inclusion.


Concieved for current and aspiring entrepreneurs and built for individuals seeking to advance within higher-level executive positions (intrapreneurs). This program equips you with foundational knowledge.

Participants have the opportunity to be matched with seasoned business and leadership mentors to ensure practical guidance and growth throughout the program.

Course Topics & Schedule

All Classes, Plus Orientation, are from 2:00-3:30PM and Held Virtually, Except an In-Person Graduation from 5:00-6:00PM

Facilitator Bios

Jonathan Wilson

Jonathan Wilson is the CEO & Chief Value Creator for Dubb Value Creation, a boutique investment bank and management consulting firm in West Hollywood, focused on mergers, acquisitions, and strategy.


Jonathan’s background originated with almost 20 years focused on partnering with division-level and corporate-level executives within Fortune 500 companies through his former employers, Accenture, Bank of America, Deloitte Consulting, and Grant Thornton. In addition, Jonathan has an MBA in General Management and International Strategy from UCLA Anderson School of Management.


In addition to leading his company, Jonathan volunteers as a Board Member for the West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, former Chair and current Member of the Social Justice Advisory Board for the City of West Hollywood, and President Emeritus for the UCLA Anderson Black Alumni Association.

Delphine Pruitt

Delphine Pruitt, Vice President, Business Access Advisor Delphine Pruitt is Vice President and Business Access Advisor at U.S. Bank, where she drives sustainable growth and access to capital for traditionally underserved businesses. With over 25 years in financial services, she is a strategic leader committed to fostering inclusive growth.


Previously, as Vice President of Diverse Strategies at Bank of the West, she expanded community lending and opened new market opportunities. She also founded Connect The Dots Consultants, a firm dedicated to advancing equity and inclusion in mission-driven organizations. At Fannie Mae, she led multicultural strategies that generated multi-millions in revenue and strengthened engagement in diverse communities.


Pruitt served as a Warren Weaver Fellow at the Rockefeller Foundation, where she executed a $100 million-dollar national community development initiative and led dialogues on race. She further shaped her global perspective by participating in a humanitarian delegation to Cuba with U.S. Congressional Black Caucus members.


A certified Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI®) expert, she ranks among the top 2% of assessed individuals for intercultural competency, a testament to her ability to lead in diverse environment. Her leadership has earned her numerous accolades, including an Honorary Doctorate in Humanitarianism and the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award.


Pruitt continues championing equitable access to capital, spearheading forward-thinking strategies, and creating lasting economic and social impact.

Horace Flournoy

Horace Flournoy is a creative business model architect and disciplined leader with a passion for turning ambitious ideas into scalable realities. A self-starter and lifelong learner, he thrives on building innovative strategies, driving opportunities with tenacity, and pushing the boundaries of what technology and business can achieve.


With strong technical expertise in Next.js and proven skills as an AI engineer using Cursor, Horace bridges the gap between cutting-edge technology and practical execution. He is recognized for combining entrepreneurial creativity with operational discipline, ensuring that bold visions become successful outcomes.


Beyond his individual pursuits, Horace is committed to collaborating with visionary, talented teams to co-create innovation and expand impact. He believes in using technology not only to unlock new business opportunities, but also as a tool to give back to others and create meaningful change.

Sarah Adolphson

Sarah is an expert in philanthropic strategy with extensive experience bridging the public sector with celebrity and entertainment. As Co-CEO of The Artemis Agency, Sarah advises nonprofit, for profit, and celebrity clients on public/private partnerships, organizational strategy, brand building, performance measurement, and corporate social responsibility.


Before joining The Artemis Agency, Sarah led the global philanthropic efforts for WME/IMG, working with high-profile clients to create successful, robust charitable initiatives designed to raise awareness about their individual causes and interests. As the Executive Director of the WME Foundation, Sarah established the structure and programming for the company’s domestic grantmaking, and its public-private partnership with the Compton Unified School District. Sarah also established the agency’s employee charitable matching, company drives, corporate event sponsorship models, and WME/IMG’s global company-wide day of service (Walk the Walk), which facilitated volunteer activities for nearly 5,000 employees in more than 130 communities around the world.


Sarah began her career by serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the former Soviet Republic of Georgia where she developed a passion and commitment to community engagement and philanthropic service. She earned her Master’s Degree in Public Administration from USC’s Sol Price School of Public Policy. She is on the boards of Bridge USA, Unsilenced, and the West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. Sarah resides in West Hollywood where she serves as Chair of the city’s Human Services Commission.

Abbe Land

Abbe Land brings more than thirty years of experience, having led some of the region’s most prestigious organizations. With a strong background in government and non-profit management, Abbe has helped grow organizations, provided coaching and mentorship, built dynamic boards, facilitated strategic planning, developed successful fundraising and advocacy strategies, and has been recognized for her leadership, expertise, and passion.


Most recently Abbe Land served as Chief Strategist – Special Projects for the Los Angeles County Department of Human Resources. Prior to this role she served as the Executive Director of the Los Angeles County Women and Girls Initiative (WGI). The WGI was created to help improve the lives of women and girls through changes in policy, program development and strategic partnerships.


From 2012 to 2017, Abbe served as the Executive Director and CEO of The Trevor Project, a nationally recognized nonprofit providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ youth. Her work with the Saban Community Clinic, a preeminent community clinic in Los Angeles that provides comprehensive medical care to low-income people, started with her serving as the Director of Development, and becoming the Co-CEO in 2003. Abbe is a recognized and respected executive and activist, with an impressive history of ensuring care and advocating for equity, health, reproductive justice, and economic wellbeing of underrepresented populations.


In addition, Abbe brings a wealth of public policy expertise having served as an elected Councilmember of the City of West Hollywood from 1986-1997 and again from 2003-2015, including five times as the City’s Mayor. She is well-known for her leadership and active support on the issues of women’s rights, LGBTQ rights, affordable housing, quality healthcare access and civil liberties.


Abbe remains active in the community through her involvement with Planned Parenthood Los Angeles Board of Directors; the International Women’s Forum-Southern California Board of Directors, the L.A. County Department of Health Services’ Women’s Health Policy Council; Pride House 2028 Advisory Board and Creative Acts Advisory Board.


Abbe is a sought-after consultant experienced in helping organizations and their people with mission development and achievement. In addition, she is a popular speaker and moderator, frequently called upon to participate and share her expertise at conferences and seminars nationwide.


Abbe has received numerous awards and recognitions for her service, including the West Hollywood Community Housing Corporation’s Lifetime Achievement Award for her commitment to affordable housing, and the APLA Red Circle Project’s Spirit of CommUNITY Award for her work to raise

awareness of HIV/AIDS. She also received the inaugural Legacy Award for Women in Leadership for her work on behalf of women in West Hollywood; the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles’ Good Neighbor Voice Award 2016 for her work on behalf of the LGBTQ community; the 28th Congressional District’s 2016 Woman of the Year award and the 2023 California Women Making Her story award and most recently the 2024 Hollywood National Organization of Women HERStory award, the 2025 Girls Power Network award, other recognitions.

Deanna Ball

Deanna Ball is a trained organizational psychologist, coach, and consultant with over 25 years of diversified experience in global human resources and organization, leadership, and team development. Having served much of her career in executive level roles in Fortune500 Companies, Deanna understands the challenges of leading in today’s highly complex organizations. Jesse Torres

Jesse Torres is founder and managing partner of ArroyoWest LLC, a minority-owned strategic consulting and communications firm advising economic-development agencies, community colleges, state departments, municipalities, corporations, and nonprofits nationwide. Projects span standing up municipal disaster-relief programs, orchestrating generative-AI transformations for state agencies, and designing regional workforce-development strategies. Headquartered in Los Angeles County, ArroyoWest also maintains offices in San Diego, Sacramento, and Illinois.


Previously, Jesse served as California’s Small Business Advocate and Deputy Director of Small Business and Innovation at the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz). In that role he secured $108 million in state General Fund appropriations—now permanent—to expand small business technical assistance and advanced legislation that strengthened the advocate’s authority in disaster recovery.


His GO-Biz portfolio included stewardship of the Innovation Hub (iHub) Network; CASCADE, the state’s defense-supplier diversification and cyber-resiliency initiative; the California Cybersecurity IT Health Advisory Board; and the California Cyber Innovation Challenge. He also directed small-business recovery operations following the 2017 Northern California firestorm and the Thomas Fire in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.


Earlier in his career Mr. Torres led the Los Angeles Small Business Development Center Network and served as Director of Alumni Affairs at Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business.He serves on the boards of the California Coalition for Public Higher Education and the California Association for Micro Enterprise Opportunity.Mr. Torres earned an MBA from Pepperdine and a B.A. in psychology from UCLA and resides with his family in South Pasadena, California
